Congress leader in Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge was part of the selection committee that transferred Alok Verma from CBI on January 8. In the selection committee meeting, Kharge had voted against Verma's removal. He also termed the appointment of M Nageswara Rao as CBI interim chief "illegal", in his letter to the PM Modi. He insisted that the CVC report should be made public.
