In a statement, the MEA spokesperson said, while India appreciated the offers of help from different countries, "in line with the existing policy, the government is committed to meeting the requirements for relief and rehabilitation through domestic efforts." The announcement came hours after Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that his government will officially try to remove "impediments", if any, in receiving the Rs 700-crore financial assistance offered by UAE.
