India & World In Karnataka, 224 assembly seats were held on May 12. During this, 72.13% voting was done. The last time was 71.45%.
- Congress never got less votes than BJP in Karnataka
- This time, despite the defeat, the vote share is more than the BJP
- 2 Seats did not take place
New Delhi. Even after the BJP became the largest party in Karnataka, the Congress had lagged behind in the race to form the government. On Tuesday, the BJP was in the midst of majority for a long time in trends. But in the afternoon he stayed at 104 seats. The Congress raised the advantage of remaining 9 seats for the BJP with a majority. He remembered the lessons of Goa-Meghalaya, where he could not make the government despite being the largest party. In spite of the Congress's 78 seats, Congress has declared the support of Janata Dal-Secular, a 38-member assembly. Let me tell you that there was a similar situation in 2004, 14 years ago. Then the BJP got 79, the Congress got 65 and the JDS had 58 seats. After this, JDS and Congress formed the government together, which could last only 20 months.
Current status: BJP biggest party, 9 seats away with majority
Total seats in the state are 224 Poll remaining on 2 seats. 113 required for the majority.
Party | Trends of 2018 | 2013 | Difference |
Congress | 78 | 122 | - 44 |
B J P | 104 | 40 | +64 |
JDS | 38 | 40 | -2 |
OTHERS | 02 | 22 | -18 |
BJP's seats got reduced and the Congress got the chance
In the first half hour of counting, the Congress made an edge. After this, for one hour, he got a tough fight from BJP. But after 9.30 pm the BJP went ahead and got closer to the majority.
- After 1 p.m. BJP once again reached 122 seats. After this, the party came to 104 seats at about 2:20 pm.
- At 3:34 pm, Ghulam Nabi Azad said in Bengaluru that we have talked on the telephone with Devgowda and Kumaraswamy. They have accepted our offer. We will form the government together - Earlier, Congress leader G. God said, "We accept the mandate, we have no data to form a government, in such a way that Congress has offered to support JDS for forming a government."
On the other hand, the BJP has stopped Yeddyurappa from coming to Delhi. The BJP's CM candidate said in a press conference in Bangalore: "The Congress is once again trying to deny it despite the mandate, but the people of Karnataka will not accept it. Congress is trying to come back from power in the past. . "
Now the ball is in the governor's arms
- After offering support to Congress JDS, the ball is now in the governor of the governor Vajubhai Vala. It is to see who they invite to form a government. Usually there is a tradition of calling the largest party first. However, this did not happen in Goa last year. Congress was the biggest party with 16 seats. The BJP, which secured 14 seats, got the first claim after receiving support from the four parties, including the Maharashtra Gomantak Party (MGP). Then the Governor called the BJP first to form the government.
Kumaraswamy can become the chief minister by bringing low seat for the second time
If Kumaraswamy becomes the Chief Minister then for the second time he will take over the state even after getting lesser seats. In 2004, JDS was at number three with 58 seats. But first she supported the Congress. Then, by the support of the BJP, Kumaraswamy himself became the Chief Minister.
Father Deve Gowda also became Prime Minister despite 46 MPs
- Kumaraswamy's father HD Deve Gowda also became the Prime Minister in 1996 similarly. After the fall of the 13-day government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Third Front formed the government with the support of Congress.
- The proposal to become Prime Minister was first given to VP Singh and Jyoti Basu, but they did not accept it. After this, the proposal of Janata Dal's HD Deve Gowda was called. At that time, the Congress had 140 and Janata Dal had only 46 MPs. Even after few MPs, Deve Gowda became the Prime Minister.
Like last election, the vote has changed by increasing percentage of government
- On May 12 in Karnataka, 224 out of 224 seats were held in one phase. After 46 years of formation of the state, the highest voting was 72.13% this time. In 2013 (71.45%) more than 6% voting was higher than in 2008 (65.1%). Then the government had changed and the BJP had formed the government for the first time with the absolute majority in the state. This time it happened. Congress got out of power.
- 2 seats were avoided: Raj Rajeshwari, Jaynagar
Congress votes increased, but seats became half
- The vote share of both the BJP and the Congress increased. Even after the increase of 1.3% in the vote share of Congress, seats were reduced from 122 to nearly half.

For these 3 reasons BJP has made an edge over the Congress
1) Yeddyurappa raises the BJP's vote share
- In Karnataka, when the BJP first formed the government on its own, in 2008, the command was handed over to Yeddyurappa. But later, due to allegations of mining scandals, Yeddyurappa had to quit the post of chief minister. He formed a separate party from Karnataka Janata Party and contested the 2013 election separately.
- In the elections of 2013, the BJP came out of power. Yeddyurappa's party got 6 seats with 9.8% vote share. It was believed that this would harm the BJP. His vote share was only 19.9% and he could get 40 seats.
- This time Yeddyurappa returned to BJP. When he was made the chief ministerial candidate, the vote share of the party was more than 35%. That is, in the case of Yeddyurappa's party's vote share, the BJP has also increased it on its own.
2) Siddaramaaya's Lingayat card reversed
- Siddaramaiah played Lingayat Card in the state just before the election dates were announced. Passing the resolution in the assembly to give this community religious minority status and sent it for approval of the center. It is believed that this stance of Siddaramaiah was reversed. The population of Lingayats was reduced from 17% to 9% in the state. With this step, there was also an outrage in Varkasiv, a faction of the Wokkaliga community and the Lingayats. This tilted them towards the BJP.
3) Modi covered 115 seats with 21 rallies
Modi made 21 rallies in this election. There were some rallies of any prime minister in Karnataka. Namo apo twice over twice. Set a distance of about 29 thousand kilometers. During this time, Modi did not go to any religious place.
Modi had 24 rallies in 20 crore population and 403 seats in UP. Karnataka's population is 6.4 million and 224 seats. Modi had the highest number of 34 rallies in Gujarat and 31 in Bihar elections.
BJP President Amit Shah conducted 27 rallies and 26 road shows. Travel around 50 thousand kilometers. 40 Union Ministers, 500 MPs - MLAs and 10 Chief Ministers campaigned in Karnataka. BJP leaders performed more than 50 road shows. More than 400 rallies.
Rahul's rallies equals Modi's seats
- In Karnataka elections, Rahul made 20 rallies and 40 road show-street meetings. Rahul fixed two-fold distance with Modi Traveled 55 thousand kilometers. In spite of this, Congress seats have come down from the last time (122) to half.
Before this, Rahul had discussed the cot before the UP elections. The entire state had visited. There were 20 rallies and 8 roadshows. Sonia Gandhi did not campaign in UP, while in Karnataka she had to get off to publicity.
33 years old trends not changed
- For the last 33 years in Karnataka, there has never been a single government twice for the government.
- In 1985, Ramkrishna Hegde became the chief minister for the second consecutive time.
- In 1973 the State of Mysore was renamed Karnataka. Since then, Congress has been in power till 1982.
- In 1983, the Janata Party formed the government. Ramkrishna Hegde becomes Chief Minister This government lasted two years.
- When the elections were held again in 1985, the Janata Party got a majority and Hegde again became the Chief Minister.
- Thereafter the Janata Dal from 1989 to 1994, the coalition from 1999 to 2004 and the BJP government from 2008 to 2013.
